Basic Requirements

We're looking to hire experienced copyeditors. You’ll be asked to select up to three of your favorite subgenres.

Job Requirements

The role is a hybrid mix of copyediting and line-editing across fiction and nonfiction (though you can choose to focus primarily on one or the other). As a copyeditor you'll be responsible for ensuring your team delivers incredible books to our clients, paying attention to:

    • Consistency- In fiction, this being the consistency of characters, plot, objects, and places seen by the reader over a period of time. In nonfiction ensuring books are accurate and provide great valueable information that is consistently presented in the piece.
    • Removing overused words and tightening the language used. Ensure it’s clear and fluid.
    • Tightening transitions and scenes- ensuring it all makes sense and reads well.
    • Improving tone, phrasing, rhythm, and pacing.
    • Lookout for narrative digressions in fiction.
    • Tackling errors - grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, syntax, font usage, numerals, hyphenation.
    • Writing craft- paragraph structure, sentence structure and flow, and language technique.
    • Voice and style.
    • Overall delivering a piece that is error-free, reads well, is consistent, cohesive and complete.

How to become a Copyeditor & Apply

Please one or more of the relevant applications. You'll be asked to complete a short and simple editing test and if successful, one of our Managers will reach out to you to get more information and schedule a video interview.

For verification purposes, if hired, you may be asked to submit a copy of your resume and photo ID.

We receive numerous applications on a daily basis. Please allow at least a week for us to process yours.
