Expanding your business in the Spanish market

For you that like to be first (read this)

We've aimed to create a full service for all your needs to enter the Spanish market regardless if you speak the language or not. We've done all the leg work for you and put together a team that is focused on delivering work quickly, but with the exceptional quality you're used to at Hotghostwriter.

We teamed up with a Literature professor, Mariana Carbajal to put together a team of exceptional writing talent for you.

1. Spanish writing. With this service, we'll be producing impactful fiction stories for your Spanish brand, or creating value-adding, high-quality nonfiction pieces. This is not 'translations' and your books go through a similar process of outlining, structuring, developing and editing from beginning to end. The goal is to deliver really high-quality writing that will engage your readers and help you create a strong brand in this emerging market. Adding your existing book sales income, or allowing you to begin producing sales from your content. Whatever the niche you want to serve, we can assign the right writer for the project.

2. Spanish Translation. With the translation service, we will take your existing English books, replanning them and rewriting them in the Spanish language. We don't simply translate word for word, or phrase per phrase, but we re-produce the piece in a way that is congruent with the original message and tightening up anything we can along the way. This is great for you to expand your reader-reach out of the existing material you already have.

3. Spanish Narration. It does exactly what it says on the box. Here we'll take your Spanish books (if your book is in English, you simply need to add the translation option and we'll take care of the rest) and narrate those books in Spanish. We also did not spare expense and have a full-sized team of voice narrators that will be taking your story or book and creating his highly demanded format which is the audiobook. Like on the English side, our spanish narration service includes your pick of favorite narrators (we can also assign for you!), full audio editing for ACX or FindAWayVoices and the uploading to ACX for your behalf, if that's the platform you're going with. You provide the manuscript and we handle the rest.

4. Spanish Extras- Translations. So you've got your book newly translated or you've just got back your amazing new paranormal series, but there are a few more things you'll need before you can make your incredible book available for purchase by your hungry readers. Because of this, we can also take care of the translation of any keywords, book descriptions, titles and book covers. Keyword research is not currently available, just translation.

As you can we've thought about everything that you'll need to release high quality after high-quality Spanish book. We're excited to see you dominate and have a lot of success in this market. We see this as a long term market that will become more and more profitable year after year.

If you have some projects you'd like to start, you can place your orders directly on our website by clicking to the button to head over to our book builder:

Is there potential in the Spanish market?

The Spanish market is one of the most untapped opportunites that 99% of publishers in the west are not taking full advantage of. Spanish, the fourth most spoken language in the world with over 500 million speakers, offers you as the publisher the ability to have additional exposure for your books. In the US alone, 13.5% of the population speak Spanish at home which provides you a massive opportunity. You also benefit from less titles, less competition and by applying the aggressive strategies we've learnt in the west, one can quite easily dominate the key markets and position themselves for massive success.

If you still don't believe me, a 2016 report indicated that Latin American publishers saw an upswing of eBook sales, year over year, of 110%. The Spaniard market saw a massive 41% hop in sales in the same time period. Which is absolutely nuts and something we'll never see in the highly competitive and saturated western reading market. The number of books being consumed by the Spanish-speaking market continue to increase and you can benefit from this by taking action.

The market is untapped and competition is low. The same report showed that in 2016, only 50,000 ebooks were published in the Spanish market. Compare that with the 700,000 in the US market. So the consumption continues to increase and the number of available titles are low and not growing at the same rate. You can also argue that the majority of publishers in the Spanish market do not have the skill level you've developed in the 'war zone' that is the English speaking market. You have a massive advantage.

How to enter the Spanish market?

So the numbers speak for themselves. So now, what is the best approach to maximise your exposure and profits in the Spanish market?

The easiest way for you to penetrate this market is by taking your existing backlist and library and having these translated and narrated into Spanish. You'll essentially take the assets you already have and double your exposure. For example, if you have 20 books, you can go to 40 books (with bundles, even more). The beauty is that production costs for Spanish with Hotghostwriter for both writing/translation and narrating, are significantly lower than English. So you can diversify at a low cost and expand much faster.

The strategy is essentially optimizing and targetting the best and largest key words which have little competition in the Spanish market, using a funnel to create a list of Spanish readers to which you can constatnly market your ebooks and audiobooks too, solidifying your brand in the Spanish market, and using the promotional codes. The ACX promo codes which allow you to give your book away for free to 200 readers. But the amazing thing is that you get paid a small royalty for this. That already puts you at a profit. Another short term return are bouty links which is a $75 bonus Amazon pays you everytime someone joins ACX through your code. ACX is still not widely used in Latin America so the earning potential from links is huge. You funnel people to your list and then have them download your free audio (you make money from the code and the bounty). But that's simply an added bonus.

Still not sure convinced that the Spanish market is growing and untapped? Look at Amazon's recent announcement:

Audible announces Audible Lationo that will be, “offering U.S. Hispanic customers a robust catalog of Spanish-language ...on audible.com.”

Scaling with Spanish

We've been collaborating with Gerald Confienza, who is a multiple six-figure publisher that is currently publishing short fiction stories and non-fiction in Spanish and he is having insane success. Currently earning $8,000 to $9,000 a month with the Spanish projects, up from $1,5000 a month in 3 months. The largest portion of that coming from audio sales.

Following Gerald's blueprint, once you've converted all your English library to Spanish, you can continue to scale by continuing to pubish in English and expanding with Spanish, and/or diving into straight Spanish. This is what we're currently doing with Gerald as the cost is lower (Gerald's currently scaling with 2 million words a month written directly in Spanish). When scaling, your income avenues are codes, organic sales, your list and going 'wide'.

Gerald has shared with us that he is seeing an organic return of $50 to $120 per book, per month. The strategy is having a large library of books to increase your passive, organic sales. You then use your email list of fans to bring in sales every time a new book is released. When it comes to going 'wide', you take that content to other platforms such as Ingramspark (paperbacks), where competition is close to none for Spanish and the earning potential is huge.

Something to keep in mind, you do not want to make the same mistake as those done by publishers in the early stages of publishing in the English market by releasing poor quality books, as the market is expanding rapidly and quality book will last the test of time and continue to earn you a return. Spanish is long term as the market consumption is growing rapidly and still untapped.

Gerald is continuing to focus on scale and according to him, the biggest way to scale to $20,000+ per month right now with Spanish would be in combining all of those markets and thinking long term, which you can do with a good funnel, quality content, and an affective strategy.

Here is Gerald's progress with the Spanish market over the last 3 months:

Gerald's sales on ACX with his Spanish audiobooks. From July 2019 until September 2019. Gerald scaled from $1.5k to $8.5k a month.
