Quality Assurance Manager Job Description

 

The Company

Hotghostwriter is a book and story writing company serving growth-oriented publishers with streamlined ghostwriting and other essential services.

Founded in 2016, today Hotghostwriter houses a team of 400+ of the highest caliber creatives, helping small and large publishers produce and publish exceptional quality content, that aligns with their brands, at scale, and whilst reducing the work on their end.

Our expertise lies uniquely in producing quality stories and books at a large scale whilst guaranteeing quality and turnaround times.

 

The position

The QAM plays a key role in our story and book production team for our B2B department, serving some of the largest names in the industry. They manage a creative staff of editors and writers and are responsible, as the name suggests, for ensuring that great quality stories/books are delivered to each client. This entails firstly mastering client requirements, selecting suitable staff, training staff, and reviewing and monitoring their work through to delivery.

 

A QAM may be managing 1 to 4 different clients at a time, each producing 300k-plus words of original content per month. The QAM should be organized to ensure nothing slips by, detail oriented to ensure all client requirements are met, and be a great leader and problem solver to ensure projects are always successful regardless of what challenges may arise.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a number of projects, ensuring all are created and delivered in accordance with each client's unique requirements. This requires a mastery of client requirements.

  • Select the right creative team (writers and editors) that match the client's requirements.

  • Develop training and train creatives on said requirements.

  • Monitor all projects and all work, ensuring that editors and writers are producing content that aligns with client needs, and are doing so within the timeframe.

  • Fulfill administrative tasks: set up tasks, payroll, handle deliveries, report progress to the Director, update clients (if required), training new QAMs.

 

Required skills

  • Must have thorough knowledge of romance fiction genre (and popular subgenres and tropes). Knowledge of serialized fiction is a big plus.

  • Thorough knowledge of great writing and storytelling. Good command of grammar.

  • Excellent management skills. Ability to keep projects and staff on track.

  • Adaptable and problem solver. Even under stress and pressure.
