Project Manager Job Description

The position: 

The project manager plays an essential role in our story and book production team for our B2C department. They manage a creative staff of editors and writers and are responsible, as the name suggests, for ensuring that great quality stories/books are delivered to each client. This entails mastering client requirements, assigning suitable staff, training staff, and reviewing and monitoring their work through to delivery.

 

A PM may be managing 50 or more projects at a time. The PM should be organized to ensure nothing slips by, detail oriented to ensure all client requirements are met, timelines are followed, services are rendered, and be a great leader and problem solver to ensure projects are always successful regardless of what challenges may arise.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects and clients with the objective to ensure a great product is delivered to each client, by understanding client and reader needs, assigning the right team, and ensuring team delivers on client expectations. The quality of the final product is the responsibility of the Project Manager.
  • Responsible for delivering a great client experience through a serving attitude, attention to detail during project production, and timely delivery.
  • Responsible for managing staff and monitoring projects beginning to end. Ensure client requirements are continuously met and projects are progressing smoothly. PM must manage both sides (client and creatives).
  • Responsible for administrative tasks.

 

Skills

  • Experience in writing or editing.
  • Proactive management and organization skills to manage many projects and people whilst meeting deadlines, and addressing challenges.
  • People skills to manage multiple people, motivate staff, address clients, and ensure that clients are happy and staff are doing their job.
  • Thoroughness in their work. The PM must be extremely thorough, detail oriented, having high standards and expectations of quality and performance from staff and themselves, and ensuring all aspects of the job are done well.
